Product Description

A 20-ton water-cooled water chiller is a system that uses water as a cooling medium to remove heat from a process or space, typically for industrial or large-scale HVAC applications. It uses a refrigerant cycle to transfer heat from the process water to the cooling water, which is then dissipated to the environment, often via a cooling tower. 
Key Components and Functioning:
  • Compressor:
    The heart of the chiller, it compresses the refrigerant, raising its temperature and pressure. 
  • The hot, high-pressure refrigerant gas is passed through the condenser, where it releases heat to the cooling water (from a cooling tower, geothermal source, or building's chilled water system), condensing back into a liquid.

  • The cold, low-pressure refrigerant vapor then flows through the evaporator, where it absorbs heat from the process water, cooling it down. 
  • Process Water Loop:
    Chilled water is circulated to the application (e.g., injection molding machine, data center) and then returns to the chiller to be cooled again. 
  • Cooling Water Loop:
    The cooling water loop removes heat from the condenser and typically uses a cooling tower to dissipate the heat to the atmosphere.
